Getting to Know Dr. Mike Agenter

The Lebanon Local Newspaper recently ran a great article about Dr. Agenter.  If you missed it, check it out today in our blog.

Getting To Know Dr. Mike Agenter of Agenter Orthodontics

Why orthodontics?  Orthodontics at its core is a service. I began college as a youth ministry major and truly enjoy serving others.  I am also a creative person and found that orthodontics is as much an art as it is a science.  I am privileged to serve our community as an orthodontist and cannot imagine a more enjoyable or fulfilling profession.

Tell us about your family, interests and a fun fact?  I adore my wife Kelly and our 3 small children. Kelly is an RN and currently staying home with our kids. I enjoy coaching my son's basketball team, serving at our church and working out at the YMCA. Something that may come as a surprise is that I love to surf.

Why the Navy?  My father was a National Guardsman, my grandfather was a Marine and my uncle was a career Navy intelligence officer. I wanted to serve my country and to be part of something bigger than myself.  I will always fondly remember my time as a dental officer in the US Navy and the men and women I served alongside.

Why Lebanon? I grew up in a small town in Northern Minnesota similar to Lebanon and appreciate all the value in this friendly community. Our business has been partnering with the Countryside YMCA in Lebanon for many years, so it was a natural choice. I'm excited that our family is now officially a part of Lebanon, Ohio.

Who is the most influential person in your life? The greatest human influence in my life has been my Dad. He loved the Lord, his wife, his family and others with a genuineness that was unquestionable. He worked hard, was a peacemaker, encourager, optimist and a strong and determined servant-leader. I couldn’t think of anyone else I would rather emulate.

What are some of the community organizations you support? Agenter Orthodontics partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Ohio (Chillicothe), Joshua's Place/Kings PowerPacks (South Lebanon), the Countryside YMCA (Caring for Families), the Christian Medical Dental Association, Global Health Outreach (international missions) and the PowerPack Programs serving Lebanon and Little Miami schools. All of these amazing organizations share our fundamental vision to have a positive transforming impact in their respective communities.

Why do you lead an annual medical/dental mission team to El Salvador? I am a firm believer that of whom much is given, much is expected. My first and primary responsibility is to my family, next is my local community and finally our shared global community.  The talent I have as an orthodontist is a responsibility and a privilege.  I have deep compassion for those who need medical and dental care but do not have the resources to pursue it. This trip has been one of the highlights of my year and I always try to bring a staff member with me. The mission trip is as much about the relationships we develop as a team, as it is about those that we serve. One of the greatest rewards personally, has been a two-year ongoing mentoring relationship I have with two college students who have served on the El Salvador team the last two years. One is now studying to become a physician and the other a pharmacist. If you’ve never been part of medical missions, I highly recommend it. The best part is, you don’t even need to have a medical background to be a valuable part of the mission team!

What orthodontic treatments do you provide and how do I make an appointment? Agenter Orthodontics is committed to providing the highest level of orthodontic care available in a fun, family friendly atmosphere. We offer traditional braces, clear braces, Invisalign, digital imaging and a paperless office. A complimentary exam is the first step to see if you are a good candidate for orthodontic treatment. I am a Board Certified orthodontist and we see adults and children. The new Lebanon office is located at 760 N. Broadway St. Lebanon, OH 45036. Phone: (513) 409-5052.
